I have really dry skin this winter. I always have this problem as soon as the cold weather hits. This year is different. I can not seem to keep from getting dried out at all. I used to use baby oil right after I shower and use a special lotion. Neither are working this year. Any suggestions??
These are really wonderful suggestions thank you all very much. It actually hurts this year and when I do something that may stretch the skin, cracks. I can’t wait to use these tips.
,,,,,it cracks.
use a different thing, your skin is to used to the other stuff. so i think u should go to the dermatologist and ask for a different lotion

i use palmers shea butter or i mix lotion and baby oil together and slather it on my skin and it works. also aveeno oatmeal lotion work and use a moisturizing shower gel or soap.it’s good to put lotions on when your skin is still damp thats what holds the moisture in.

If it’s really a problem, check with your M.D., it can be a sign of a metabolic disorder. Otherwise, increase your water intake, and decrease your caffeine and decongestants if taking any. I use Aveeno lotion. It works the very best, if you buy it in the baby aisle, it’s 1/2 the price of the ‘regular’ Aveeno, but the exact same lotion!

Skin and Body Care In Winters – Winter Skin Care
Changes in weather conditions in winters and summers can be hard on the skin. The dry and cold air in winter can drain essential moisture from the skin, making it look capped and dry. Follow these tips to maintain your skin healthy in winters.
Skin Care Tips in Winters
Use SPF sunscreen on face, neck and all visible parts of body when going out during winters.
Do not take excessive long and hot showers as this will deplete the natural skin moisturizer.
Keep your skin nourish by using good quality cleansing cream and mositurizer and wear warm clothes that does not create any iching sensation on the skin.
An ancient Chinese herbal remedy for detoxification during winter is drinking a glass of hot water with lemon. This cleanses the liver and gall bladder and the body cleans blood faster, thus toxins responsible for bad skin are eliminated.
Drink adequate water, say 12 glasses a day.

I have problems with dry skin too. In the winter, I cut back on using soap in the shower-only in armpits, groin, feet, and face (advice from my MD) and I just discovered a great new lotion called Aveeno Eczema care. It’s actually in the first aid aisle instead of with the regular lotions-works wonders for my skin!
